Mapping
Preliminary Assessment
Why Start with Mapping?
A mapping ultrasound is a detailed ultrasound used to determine the layout of the venous anatomy.
Differing from the Reflux Study that is performed at a medical imaging centre, this ultrasound is useful in planning the best method of treatment.
The size, location of vessels and how they are interconnected will allow the team to create a plan that is catered specifically to each individual patient.
Determining the Right Treatment
Anatomy is the deciding factor when treatment options are reviewed. For some, there are multiple ways we can treat varicose veins, and for others, only one option might be available based on anatomy.
A literal drawing of the patients’ venous system will be shared with the surgeon for planning purposes and will be reviewed in consultation.
This is a tedious test, but an essential tool in the treatment of venous insufficiency and varicose veins.
Stratford Vein Clinic serves patients from across Southwestern Ontario. Our team of medical professionals provide varicose vein treatments including EVLT, Ultrasound-Guided Foam Sclerotherapy, Microphlebectomy, and Vein Stripping.
