WHAT TO EXPECT POST-PROCEDURE
Post-Op Images – Normal Reactions
See images below for examples of normal and abnormal post-procedure reactions. Click on images to view in more detail.
UGFS
After an Ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy treatment, the vessel will begin the process of scaring down and eventually sclerosing and disappear. The vessel will become discoloured, hard, ropey and lumpy.
This image shows a very successful and normal post procedure appearance. Over time this will fade. Using Zax’s Bruise cream, or any Arnica-basaed cream, will be helpful to quicken the fading of the discolouration.
It is imperative that this discolouration is not exposed to the sun, or use a high SPF sunscreen to cover.

EVLT
In this image, there is some significant bruising, and the vessels appear hard and raised. This can happen and is a normal process.
The vessels that appear hard and raised are the result of Trapped Blood. Your body will eventually break down the trapped blood and scar the vessel down. This process can take several months. Using the Zax’s Bruise cream or any Arnica based cream will help resolve this faster.
In some cases, this can be very uncomfortable, even painful, like a bad bruise if touched. It is best to let the body heal and sclerose and scar these vessels on their own. If the area is so tender that you cannot tolerate this discomfort, please contact the SVC team. The trapped blood can be removed if necessary.

Microphlebectomy
Patients will keep a close eye on the tiny incisions. Bruising is normal. The small incisions should heal quickly but may remain discoloured or scabbed for a period of time.
Oozing, redness extending several centimetres away the tiny incision is abnormal.
Try using the anti-inflammatory mediation and warm compresses to start.
If unsure, please contact the clinic if nothing improves after a couple days.
You should NOT apply any ointments etc. to the area.
